Remove it too (you will be able to just pull it off). There will also be a strip of metal attached to the top of the case. use the rotary tool to remove that plastic as well. In the top half of the case there is also some raised plastic that was meant to protect the mechanism. The motor inside the adaptor with then start moving the gears and idlers inside the adaptor making. Remember the flat piece you cut and set aside earlier? Glue it over the hole in the bottom of the case that it used to cover (see image 6). Pop in your VHS-C Cassette and close firmly the door. VHS tapes cannot be stored indefinitely with expectation of future retrieval of the recorded information. It is better to remove too little than too much. BE CAREFUL! it is very easy to cut through the case accidentally (like I did in image 7). Now that all of the loose pieces are gone use the rotary tool to remove all of the raised plastic. Cut off the solid flat part and set it aside. This piece covers a hole in the case that we want to remain covered. One of the pieces should resemble the second image. Start by pulling out all the loose pieces. It needs to be removed to make the compartment bigger. One thing to keep in mind is that during this phase of VHS, these tapes were sold to video rental stores for 70 to 80 a piece, which made them cost prohibitive for most people to add to their home libraries, which is why most of these tapes are found as ex-rental copies. *I recommend looking at all of the images in this step* - In the bottom half of the case is a mechanism meant to control the movement of the spools (it will resemble the first image). Inside there was a molded Warner Bros insignia, but other than that a standard white plastic.
